Legoland Billund is an amusement park in Billund, Denmark, and the first Legoland park in the world. The amusement park is part of the Legoland Billund Resort.

Legoland Billund was opened on June 7, 1968, with Miniland as its main attraction, which is 2021 can be found in every Legoland park in the world.

In 1932 Christiansen started making wooden toys and the name LEGO came into use. From 1947, Christiansen started making his toys out of plastic.

In the 1960s, Godtfred Kirk came up with the idea of โ€‹โ€‹displaying LEGO products in an 'outdoor window'. The factory itself has attracted 20,000 visitors a year. After a visit to the Dutch park Madurodam, the idea for the construction of Legoland became more concrete. A 5.7 ha piece of land was bought next to the LEGO factory.

The park is open from March to December and the area is 14 ha.

The name 'LEGO' stands for the two Danish words โ€œLeg Godtโ€, which means โ€œplay well!โ€
