Granada Studios Tour was an amusement theme park in the Granada Studios complex in Castlefield, Manchester, England. The park was in the heart of Manchester city center, next to the Granada House building.
The park was the brainchild of Granada Television producer David Plowright, who had long been interested in developing the land around the Granada Studios complex in Manchester.
The outside of the complex was a New York street, a replica of Times Square, complete with yellow cabs, large neon signs, and entertainers playing cops. This area was the site of Coronation Street's first outdoor set, used from 1968 to 1982 (chosen for the Victorian viaduct that was behind New York's facade)
Granada Studios also had a Flying Roller Coaster called; "Skytrak." There was only one of this coaster ever built.
And this was the world's first "flying" roller coaster.
In August 2015, developers Allied London submitted a planning application for "demolition of existing buildings and structures, including Stage 1, Coronation Street set and Lot, The Stables and Stage 2 Extension", intending to commence construction in the autumn of 2016. to start.
