The Efteling Theater, initially planned on the Pardoes Promenade, is being built as the start of the new area, which has since been given the name Uitrijk. (Outbound)
The plans started in the year 2000.
The Uitrijk was to become an entertainment area, and was planned on the west side of the park near the 'House of the Five Senses.' Uitrijk would have had an area of 300 hectares. The Efteling wanted to start building the empire in 1995. But that was postponed.
The large theater was built on the site of what should have been rich and we know it as 'The Efteling Theater.' 𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭...there should have been a sailor's cafe in Uitrijk?
The special thing was that there should have been a cafe downstairs and a small theater upstairs. Where an actor who was among the people. And on several occasions he would tell out of the blue about 'Balthazar Mouscron.' An actor also took you to another room to tell you about the history there. This was very much inspired by the 'Adventurers Club' at Walt DisneyWorld. 'Adventures Club' was closed on September 27, 2008.
Efteling also wanted to tell a story about 'Balthazar Mouscron' with the Zeemans Café.
And that if 'Balthazar Mouscron' appeared, he would float over a wall of mirrors. Balthazar didn't have a body just a head in a cupboard that was the whole idea behind it.
The Efteling has never definitively put a line through Uitrijk and is still a discussion whether there will ever be? Update: The Efteling has started the construction of a new Hotel called "Efteling Grand Hotel" on the old "Dwarrelplein" and will nevertheless become the completed phase of the "Uitrijk."
The Efteling Grand Hotel will open its doors in 2024.
