๐€๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ญ๐จ๐จ... On May 29, 1976, the company opened a second Marriott's Great America, later known as Six Flags Great America, in Gurnee, Illinois.

California's Great America, often shortened to Great America, is a 112-acre (45 ha) amusement park located in Santa Clara, California. Owned and operated by Cedar Fair, it originally opened on March 20, 1976, as one of two parks built by the Marriott Corporation.


The park appeared in the 1994 films Beverly Hills Cop III and Getting Even with Dad.

That George Lucas is a Cameo in Beverly Hills Cop III.


Previously, California's Great America was a Paramount Pictures Park.


Other notable rides include RailBlazer, a single-rail coaster from Rocky Mountain Construction, and Flight Deck, an inverted coaster from Bolliger & Mabillard.


At the park's opening in 1976, the park featured appearances from Looney Tunes characters, including Bugs Bunny.


After Marriott sold the Gurnee park to the Six Flags corporation, the rights to the Looney Tunes characters were passed along to them, and the 1984 season was their final one.


The park began using Hanna-Barbera properties in 1985, including The Smurfs, Scooby-Doo, and Yogi Bear. After the park was acquired by Cedar Fair, which held a license for Peanuts characters.


Kings Entertainment Company was hired in 1985 to manage Great America for the city. In 1989, the city sold the park to Kings Entertainment.


Cedar Fair purchased the land in 2019 from the city of Santa Clara. Before that time, Cedar Fair said it leased the land from the city for more than forty years.


They sold the Park in 2022 for 310 Million Dollars, to the real estate company Prologis.


California's Great America will remain open for an average of 11 more years. (2033)
